T wo and a half years ago I acquired a couple of peonies through a members-only sale of my local chapter of the North American Rock Garden Society (NARGS). You may not realize this, but most rock gardeners get interested in alpine plants after years of gardening experience. They are all plant geeks and expert (or at least, better than average) at starting plants from seed, because the best. Peonies should be spaced feet apart in the garden. I saw the book Peonies by Allan Rogers in its hardback edition (, ISBN ). It was indeed a good book. Since the original edition is now out of print, I have purchased the paperback edition (, ISBN ). Unfortunately, when preparing my order from Amazon UK, I did not notice that it is the black-and-white edition/5(24).

Jane Fearnley-Whittingstall's Peonies is a ravishing book--the sort of book that you covet from the moment you see it--but it isn't just lovely to look at, it is also a wonderful read.
